Work Packages

SMarTAI is implemented through four work packages that cover project management, curriculum modernisation, digital and inclusive learning, and dissemination & sustainability. Together they ensure that the project reaches its objectives and delivers tangible results.

WP1 – Project Management & Coordination

WP1 provides overall coordination and quality assurance for the project, ensuring that activities are implemented on time, within budget and according to the agreed work plan.

  • Day-to-day management of the consortium and activities.
  • Internal communication and decision-making procedures.
  • Monitoring of progress, milestones and deliverables.
  • Risk assessment and mitigation measures.

Main outputs: project handbook, management reports, quality reviews and updated work plans when needed.

WP2 – Curriculum Modernisation

WP2 focuses on reviewing and updating maritime higher education programmes, embedding AI, sustainability and international best practices into courses and learning outcomes.

  • Analysis of existing curricula and labour market needs.
  • Design and update of selected maritime courses.
  • Integration of AI, data analytics and green transport topics.
  • Development of guidelines for modernised programmes.

Main outputs: modernised course syllabi, updated teaching materials and curriculum reform recommendations.

WP3 – Inclusion, Digitalisation, OPCs & VR

WP3 develops inclusive and digital learning opportunities through online professional courses and VR-based training, supporting students, graduates and professionals in maritime transport.

  • Design of online professional courses (OPCs) for key maritime topics.
  • Development of VR training exercises for realistic learning scenarios.
  • Piloting of OPCs and VR tools with target groups.
  • Guidelines for inclusive, learner-centred digital education.

Main outputs: OPC catalogue, VR training modules and methodological guidelines for digital and inclusive teaching.

WP4 – Dissemination, Exploitation & Sustainability

WP4 promotes SMarTAI results to stakeholders, encourages the uptake of project outputs and supports their sustainability beyond the project lifetime.

  • Communication and visibility activities at local, national and EU levels.
  • Engagement with universities, industry and policy makers.
  • Planning for long-term use of courses and VR tools.
  • Exploitation and sustainability roadmap.

Main outputs: dissemination plan, promotional materials, stakeholder events and a sustainability & exploitation strategy.
